A Little Rain on Familiar Streets

Yihua and Matthew celebrated their marriage at Philadelphia City Hall, then walked through the neighborhood they once called home and visited an art museum. With light rain coming and going, the day felt easy, personal, and closely connected to the life they share in Philadelphia.

The City They Call Home

Yihua came to the United States from China for college and later began her career here. She and Matthew now live and work in Philadelphia, so celebrating their marriage at City Hall felt naturally connected to the life they have built together.

Their Philadelphia City Hall wedding in Philadelphia began with a simple civil ceremony. Outside, a light drizzle came and went. They opened their umbrella and continued through the city without rushing, letting the afternoon unfold at its own pace.

Back to Familiar Streets

After the ceremony, we returned to the neighborhood near their former apartment.

These were not simply streets chosen for photographs. They were part of Yihua and Matthew’s everyday life—the buildings, sidewalks, and familiar corners they had passed many times before.

Walking through the same neighborhood in their wedding clothes made everything feel a little different, while still feeling completely like them. The rain softened the streets, and the two of them moved easily beneath their umbrella.

An Afternoon Shaped by Art

Because Yihua and Matthew both love art, we also visited a museum for portraits. Moving from their old neighborhood to a place connected to something they share felt like a natural continuation of the day.

Nothing needed to be elaborate. A ceremony at City Hall, a walk through familiar streets, some time with art, and a little summer rain.

It was a quiet and relaxed way to celebrate a marriage—in the city where their life together continues.
