A Marriage Made in Motion
Qian and Cheng came from Shenzhen to New York for a prewedding session in Dumbo and the subway, choosing a quiet, unconventional way to mark their marriage without a traditional wedding.
Qian and Cheng flew in from Shenzhen with a different idea of what getting married could look like. Instead of holding a traditional wedding, they chose a prewedding session in New York: walking through Dumbo, riding the subway, and letting the city become part of the way they remembered this moment.
For their Dumbo prewedding photos in Brooklyn, NY, nothing felt overly arranged. Qian wore a simple white jumpsuit in place of a traditional wedding dress. Cheng dressed in clothes that felt comfortable and true to himself. Together, they looked easy in the city: young, open, and completely unforced.
Qian carried a bright, playful energy. She laughed often, teased Cheng, and moved through the streets with a kind of mischievous sweetness. Cheng was quieter beside her, steady and attentive, always aware of her without needing to make a show of it.
In the subway station, the mood shifted into something more cinematic. Trains arrived and left. People moved past them. The platform lights, metal columns, and passing cars gave the portraits a rhythm that felt distinctly New York.
Inside the train, they seemed to fold naturally into the city around them. Two partners from Shenzhen, dressed for a marriage of their own making, sitting together in a New York subway car as if they had always belonged there.
There was no aisle, no reception, no formal schedule to follow. Just the two of them, moving through the city together, letting the day become official in their own quiet way.
