Where the Jazz Led Them
Charlotte & Joe · 08.23.2025 · Porches on the Towpath & Triumph Restaurant and Brewery, New Hope, Pennsylvania
A New Hope wedding for Charlotte and Joe at Porches on the Towpath, where music carried the day forward and drew everyone into something shared.
New Hope has a rhythm of its own. A small town, full of character—quiet streets, layered history, and a kind of ease that settles in without effort. Charlotte and Joe chose to begin their day here, not with grand gestures, but with intention.
The morning felt soft and unhurried. Charlotte got ready surrounded by her mother and sisters—there was a quiet beauty in that room, something both elegant and familiar. Her gown carried a subtle vintage sensibility, and when the light passed through the fabric, it felt almost weightless. Moments like these don’t ask for direction. They simply unfold.
They chose to keep their first look private. No cameras, no audience—just the two of them. It’s a rare decision, and one we always respect. Some moments are meant to be held, not documented. What followed, though, carried that same intimacy into everything else—the way they stood together, the way they moved, the way they looked at each other during portraits. There was nothing forced, nothing performed. Just presence.
Their ceremony took place at Porches on the Towpath, a space that feels more like a private garden than a venue. Surrounded by flowers and greenery, guests gathered closely, almost as if they were part of something happening at home. The ceremony itself was deeply personal—friends and family spoke, music filled the space, and time seemed to stretch in a gentle, unnoticeable way.
At exactly 5:05pm, a train whistle sounded in the distance. It marked the beginning, unintentionally but perfectly. And then, toward the end, something shifted.
A brass band appeared.
It started subtly—music drifting out from the house—and then suddenly, the entire atmosphere changed. What followed was a New Orleans–style second line, led by Charlotte and Joe, joined by their wedding party, and then by everyone else. Umbrellas lifted, feet moved, and the quiet garden ceremony transformed into something vibrant and alive.
They danced through the streets of New Hope, past shops and sidewalks filled with strangers who quickly became part of the celebration. Cars slowed, people cheered, horns sounded in rhythm. It wasn’t just a transition between ceremony and reception—it felt like the town itself was briefly woven into their wedding.
The procession led them to Triumph Restaurant and Brewery, where the night continued with the same energy. The live jazz band didn’t hold back, and neither did anyone on the dance floor. There was no hesitation—just movement, laughter, and the kind of joy that builds naturally when nothing is over-controlled.
As the evening came to a close, the music carried them one last time. Surrounded by their guests, Charlotte and Joe stepped into a tandem bicycle and rode off into the night, moving quickly, almost disappearing into the glow of the streetlights, while “When the Saints Go Marching In” played behind them.
Some weddings stay gentle from beginning to end.
Some unfold with quiet consistency.
And some—like this one—begin softly,
then slowly open,
until everything is in motion.
