OUR STORY

We’re Will and Shell.

We met in college—it feels like a lifetime ago. We study Fine Art in New York, and dreamed of seeing the world. Our story has unfolded quietly over the years. Nothing dramatic—just real life.

In 2014, we photographed our first wedding for a friend. What stayed with us wasn’t just the event itself, but the feeling—relaxed, joyful, and full of small, unscripted moments. We remember being completely immersed, pressing the shutter instinctively, simply photographing what we saw. Later, we learned there was a name for this approach—photojournalistic. It felt right from the beginning, and we’ve followed that instinct ever since.

Over the years, we’ve photographed hundreds of weddings. Based in New York, we’ve witnessed celebrations across cultures and traditions. People often say weddings are all the same. In some ways, they are. But the people are never the same—and it’s the people who give each wedding its own character. Even now, we still find something moving in every wedding we photograph.

At home, we have a ragdoll cat—grey and white, calm to an almost philosophical level. No matter what’s happening, he’ll quietly walk past you and settle into his usual spot.

We also have a labradoodle, about forty pounds, with curly fur. When we first adopted him at three months old, he was a deep brown. A few years later, he somehow turned into a soft grey-brown. We think it suits him better—and matches our furniture, too. He’s the kind of dog people meet once and immediately want to take home.

We thought that was already a full house. Then in 2019, our twins were born. In 2022, a little boy joined us. Life with children isn’t something you can fully imagine beforehand. We were there for everything—the feedings, the falls, the sleepless nights. It was exhausting, but also filled with a sense of fullness that’s hard to put into words.

Photography became part of it all. At weddings, we document newlyweds. In our own lives, we photograph constantly—ourselves, our children, our cat and dog, everything in between. We don’t try to shape moments into what they should be. We simply let them be as they are. With enough care and attention, there’s always something quietly beautiful in everyday life.

As time passes, these images begin to carry a different weight. Looking back, there’s a quiet pull—a feeling of wanting to step back into those moments and hold them again, just as they were.

To us, a good photograph reveals time—
fleeting moments gathered together, becoming something we’ll one day call our history.

We met in college—it feels like a lifetime ago. We came to the United States from China to study Fine Art and dreamed of seeing the world. Our story has unfolded quietly over the years. Nothing dramatic—just real life.

Our Vision

Authentic & Fine Art

For us, art has never been about escaping reality, nor about copying it exactly as it is. It’s about finding a connection with the world while staying true to our own sense of beauty. Somewhere between what is real and what is felt, art comes alive. This is the idea behind our name, RESONANCE.

When we stepped into wedding photography, we carried the same belief. What we create is always a dialogue between the Authentic and the Fine Art (Authentic is the truth of a wedding day and the couple’s real emotions and presence; Fine Art is the intuition we follow as artists). In our approach, we photograph with a documentary eye—capturing authentic, candid, unposed moments—and shape them with a fine art sensibility and cinematic use of light, creating imagery that speaks to clients who appreciate a sense of quiet luxury. Our work lives in that space of resonance, where honesty and imagination meet.

Our wedding photographs, at their heart, are a Resonance between the Authentic and the Fine Art.
